The Junior League of Atlanta and Belk department stores are partnering for a book drive to benefit Sheltering Arms’ early childhood education programs in Atlanta. The book drive will provide books to families served by Sheltering Arms with children under the age of 3. By reading to children before age 3, they are better prepared for
preschool and have a better chance of success in school and in life.
Collection bins will be located in the children’s department in 21 Atlanta-area Belk stores. Customers who donate books or make monetary contributions will receive a coupon valid July 20-22 for 15 to 20 percent off their purchase.
Sheltering Arms is metro Atlanta’s oldest nonprofit child care provider, providing working families with high quality, affordable child care, education and comprehensive support services. It serves more than 3,600 children each year. Sheltering Arms’ Operation Storybook is aimed at putting a new book in the hands of each of the preschoolers it serves each month – a proven tool in ensuring future reading success.
