A longtime icon of Atlanta’s dining scene, Nikolai’s Roof has been a hit since 1976. You’ll find amazing views of the Atlanta skyline, European specialties including a variety of flavored vodkas, caviar, and rack of lamb, and an award-winning wine list – all served in an intimate setting. I have been a fan since moving to Atlanta in 2001 and in December (2016) I sampled the latest menu, crafted by French Chef Stephanie Alderete.
For our first course – the chef served perfectly cooked pan-seared scallops with a caramelized crust on the outside, smooth and buttery on the inside – covered in cream, lentils and black olive oil.
The second course was lamb served with cream demi glace and paired with a medium bodied, smooth red wine (gorgeous view included for free).
We ended the meal with a classic French dessert – Gran Mariner souffle topped with delicious almond crème fraiche. The waiter suggested one final treat and we couldn’t resist – their version of Russian coffee (I highly recommend – and would suggest a visit to their spacious bar just to try one). A mix of vodka, Kahlua, Irish cream and other choice ingredients they would not share. 🙂
