If you’ve been making every effort to prepare to look good for the beach but you aren’t quite feeling as confident in a bikini as you were hoping to, or you simply haven’t had a chance to prepare and summer has kind of crept up on you, there’s no need to worry! No matter how far away you feel you are from how you’d love to look in a bikini, there are lots of ways to make yourself look and feel good for the beach, that will ensure you have a fun, confident and shame free time! Here are a few tips!
Choose a Swimsuit You Love!
Rather than thinking about the flesh that will be on show, think about picking out a bathing suit you really love the design of. Bikinis are not the only fashionable option, so if you feel more confident with your belly covered, then you can choose a gorgeous one piece – even one with control panels that flatten your stomach – without feeling like you are compromising on style. If you prefer the option to be able to tan your belly but still want a little more cover than a normal bikini, look out for fashionable tankini swimsuits that give you the midriff cover you want, but which you can always pull up while you are sunbathing so the rays can reach your skin!
Remember that whatever style you choose, support is important if you have a large chest, so pick something that gives it to you! Bikinis and swimsuits with underwired, padded bra-like designs are great if you want to show off some cleavage and draw attention to your assets, but if not, consider sporty designs with built in support that will look good, feel great to swim in, and keep your boobs under control!
Accessories!
The beach might not seem like a place where you get to accessorize much, but in actual fact, adding accessories you love to your swimsuit can give you a glamorous, stylish look and also make you feel more confident and pulled together. Sunglasses are of course a must, as are some pretty flip flops. Beyond that, you can also add a fashionable sun hat which will also protect you from the sun, and a beautiful sarong or wrap that can turn your swimsuit into a great outfit for relaxing at the beach bar! Jewelry is also more of an option than you might think, and as long as you choose things that won’t get damaged if you swim, can be a great way to enhance your outfit. Fun, summery things you may not normally get to show off like ankle bracelets and toe rings look cool on the beach, and you can find great waterproof watches, so why not extend your shopping to include some beautiful accessories as well as the beach essentials?
These are all things that will look great and make you feel good no matter what your size and shape, so are great for giving you an extra boost if you feel self conscious about baring skin!
Prepare Your Skin!
On the beach, whatever you wear, you’ll be showing more skin than usual, and so you want that skin to look fresh and healthy. Take some time before you head out for the first beach day of the year to do a full body exfoliation with a scrub. This will get rid of dead, dull skin and leave your skin healthy and rejuvenated. In general, the darker your skin is, the slimmer and more toned you look, so if you are naturally pale, you can add some bikini confidence by using a fake tan. Body moisturizers that contain a hint of self tan can be used over time to gives you darker skin, but if you don’t have time for that, simply use a self tanning treatment or get a spray tan at your favorite salon for an instant glow. Developing a tan using sunbeds is also an option if you are OK with the risks involved, but bear in mind it does take time to build a good base tan this way so fake tan is still the best approach as a quick fix.
Getting confidence before you hit the beach is easy, even if you haven’t quite met your body goals. Make sure your skin looks fantastic, choose a swimsuit that makes you smile, and piece your look together with fabulous accessories, and you’ll feel ready to enjoy everything the summer has to offer!
