Belk recently held their annual “Open Your Purse” event benefitting the YWCA ‘Women in Transition’ program and raised a record $175,000! A silent auction, dinner and live auction of high-end designer bags took place at The Georgia Aquarium. Here is a pic of one of the fab bags that was up for grabs. A ‘Power of the Purse’ award was also given to a graduate recipient of the ‘Women in Transition’ program. It was inspiring and fun and great to see fashion giving back!
Last week I attended 29 Spa’s Annual Crush for Beauty event at Mansion on Peachtree. The event was a celebration of the cabernet harvest. As such, they flew in grapes directly from Napa Valley as guests took turns stomping them with founder, Lydia Mondavi. Spa treatments like hand massages and lip treatments were enjoyed along with bites and plenty of Mondavi wine. So much fun!
Recently I attended the Bodies as a Work of Art 2011 fundraiser. Local artists painted bodies rather than canvas on this amazing night at Tongue and Groove. Proceeds from the event benefited The Chelko Foundation Scholarship for women in the arts and Jaden’s Ladder, a nonprofit organization that assists the survivors of domestic violence. Last night I served on the Style Council for the Vitaminwater “Inspired” Fashion Show at Whiskey Blue (W Hotel Buckhead) and had a blast! The city’s best designers were challenged to design fashion pieces based on inspiration from Vitamin Water bottles – from the graphics and colors down to the ingredients and product benefits. Their inspired designs walked down the catwalk as they were judged by the Style Council, including yours truly. The competition was tough to judge! The winner, Tian Justman won a $1,000 cash prize and a spread in Jezebel. Congrats to all of the designers who were absolutely amazing!

This past weekend, I was honored to be a part of the Lyrics and Logos event in Southampton, NY. The fashion show and fundrasing afternoon benefitted The Foundation for Tomorrow, which provides boarding school scholarships for orphaned and abandoned children in Tanzania. Recently I was thrilled to host a special evening at LK Bennett alongside Jezebel magazine. Nothing is better than an evening of shopping with discounts and charity. Attendees received 10% off and 10% of all proceeds were donated to my charity of choice, the Atlanta Humane Society. Thanks to LK Bennett and Jezebel for making a special evening even more special for our furry friends!
Recently I attended the SCAD Seen Gala, featuring honorary chair and fashion designer, Rachel Roy. The evening showcased a juried selection of student designers. So inspiring to see such amazing talent in such a beautiful setting!
